Kai means ocean. Ola means life. Together, that's everything we make.

I'm Marcela, and Kaiola started with a simple wish: a beach towel that didn't feel like a chore. I didn't want to lug around something heavy. I didn't want sand riding home with me — in the car, on the floor, in the sheets.

On a trip, I found microfiber towels for the first time — light, quick-dry, genius. But plain. One color, boring packaging, nothing I wanted to be seen with. I thought: this needs to be beautiful too. So I designed one with a design on both sides, and a matching bag to carry it in.

Then my phone kept disappearing into my beach bag — so I added a pocket. Then one windy afternoon my towel flew right off my chair — so our newest collection comes with an elastic band to keep it in place. Every feature on a Kaiola towel exists because it solved something that actually happened to me.

Each design is a limited edition — some inspired by my travels, some pure imagination, and a few dreamed up because customers asked for their favorite animal on a towel.

Then one afternoon, everything changed again. I came home from the beach and reached for my cotton towel to dry my hair — same rough, frizzy tangle as always. On a whim, I used my Kaiola towel instead. Soft. Fast. Not a single knot. I'd been damaging my hair for years without knowing it. That became our Hair Towel — made to dry your hair in minutes, with zero friction on the cuticle.

And then, the kitchen. I love a spotless home but not a cabinet full of chemicals. One day I cut a Kaiola towel that had gotten too big for its job and used it to wipe my counters — no spray, no chemicals, just water. It picked up everything. That's when I discovered 80/20 microfiber — double the polyamide most brands use — traps up to 99% of bacteria with water alone. So I designed our Magic Cleaning Towel to actually look good hanging in your kitchen.
